Bath Remodel
A cramped, dark bathroom (left two pictures) in a 1905 Craftsman house gets a makeover (right two pictures). The new window mimics the design of existing windows, except that it's really two casement windows with a transom on top. What was removed: tile floor, aluminum window, pedestal sink, medicine cabinet, storage cabinet and vent fan. The remodeled bath includes a new window, paint, sink base unit, four drawer base unit with two door linen unit above and a medicine cabinet with glass door and recessed lighting, a hardwood Bamboo floor, new mini lights and exhaust vent, a glass tile surround and clear Fir baseboards, door and window trim. Long Beach, CA.
The sinks rests on a solid maple countertop (left); drawer unit and linen cabinet (not visible) with sink base (middle); grain detail of drawer. The floor is half sawn Bamboo. All cabinet units are made with White Oak; drawer fronts are "ribboned" maple.
Different views of the shower surround: 5,100 glass tiles (left); one of two "cubbies" and the tiles up close (right).
