So somebody else could have a nice home in

Or maybe, have a nicer car or even

A nice retirement condo down in Florida

Get real America

Don’t be shocked by the lawlessness

The looting down in Narleans

Civility is a thin veneer

And once it’s gone or has been interrupted

For enough hours

All hell breaks loose

The same thing could happen

ANYWHERE

The poor

The poor are an exploitable commodity

They are shuffled about

Like the unwanted step-children

Of a marriage gone dangerously wrong

The marriage between industry and

Social services

The poor constitute a pool of easy workers

Always available no matter what shit job is needed

Or what welfare quota must be filled

The poor are a welcome mat for politicians

Always available for a “photo op” or a soundbite

(remember Saddam Hussein stroking the head of a frightened

son of a British diplomat back in pre-gulf war one?)

The poor are the podium upon which all politicians
