The Lummox Journal started out as a one person operation.  Fortunately, over the years a number of people have come on board to help turn this into the mag that Lindsay Wilson (co-editor of Unwound magazine) dubbed "the best monthly magazine in the small press today."  Hopefully, now that we've gone bi-monthly, we'll still deserve such praise.  Time will tell.

I couldn't do it without the help of the following people: first and foremost, Yazoota, our interpid Art Director.  He makes the mag look totally professional (to the point that the LJ is often overlooked in the 'zine' category).  Then there's our newest member, Ed Jamieson, Jr.  Ed has taken on the difficult task of Poetry Editor, a position so vile that it is superceded only by Dog Catcher & Meter Maid.  Yet Ed prevails.

Also adding to the quality of the Lummox...the following contributors help keep the mix interesting: Claudio Parentela, whose artwork has graced the pages of Lummox through most of its years.  Laura Stamps writes reviews, articles, the occassional interview and poesy.  She also provides the Raindog with encouragement and support.  So too, Charles Ries, who has become a steady contributor of reviews, as well as poesy.  Todd Moore is probably our most loyal & thought-provoking contributor.  His essays on poetic process are classic, and he has become my long poem mentor!

A little bit about myself: I Raindog, AKA RD Armstrong, being of completely unsound mind and body (if you knew what was involved with making all this happen, you'd have to agree a person would have to be kinda nuts to do it) have been running the Lummox  Journal since October of 1995.  Until the beginning of 2004, I published the LJ monthly, a daunting task indeed!  If you want to find out more about me, or where I'll be appearing, please visit these links.
